Notes:

Jailhouse Rock (record version):

The master is spliced from 2001-take 6 & 2002(pickup)-take 2. Likely splice point can be identified at 1:15, which is in contradiction with the original MGM time note of 2001-6 (0:55, see original MGM document reprinted in Tunzi's 'Sessions', page 322 or Elvis 'Sessions II', page 384). Corresponding RCA tape legend lists the master as 2001-take 6 only (see 'Reconsider Baby', page 60), but the same RCA log lists the movie version of Young and Beautiful as take 18, with a separate note explaining that it is a spliced version.

Young and Beautiful (2004):

At least 9 complete takes were recorded, of which 7 have been released by 2005.

Take 18: Released on the Laurel LP 'Jailhouse Rock Sessions' (track 8) and in poor quality on PEJRCD149 (track 20). Identified by the responding piano after the first "and I love you so". Sleeve notes on Laurel LP say that this is the spliced version, but this is not true.

Take 19: A version similar to the record master ("dodo-dodo"-chorus) but with Elvis singing "kiss me tenderly" instead of "never set me free" on the second bridge. It can be found on the 'Jailhouse Rock Sessions' LP (track 3).

Take 22: The RCA record master with "dodo-dodo"-chorus and one bad piano note near the end.

Spliced MGM movie master: This was released on 'Essential 1' with dry (MGM) vocals and is announced as take 12, but the announcement must have survived the splicing process. With timing referring to music only of the movie version as released on Essential 1, it is spliced like this:

0:00-0:32 Unknown take(s) (probably take 12)
0:32-1:30 Take 18 ("
So fill"..."O take this")
1:30-1:32 Take 22 ("
heart")
1:32-1:55 Take 18 ("
I offer"..."to")
1:55-2:03 Unknown take (probably take 8) ("
me")

All songs were recorded in binaural stereo.

Thanks to Henk Muller.
